Involving your community

Friday, February 16, 2007

Residents in the Kilburn area became a top priority last week when five members of the neighbourhood accompanied several PCHA staff members on an inspection of the Hilgrove Road estate.

PCHA, part of the Genesis Housing Group, instigated the inspection in order to include its residents in the reviewing of common areas used by the community and examining of cleaning, gardening, and maintenance of the estate.

The tour also gave the residents the opportunity to address any concerns they may have directly to PCHA.

PCHA's Managing Director, Pam Lockley, said "I am very keen to improve the Hilgrove Road area via the Neighbourhood Planning process.

Past feedback indicated a request to consult with residents when reviewing the ways in which PCHA could improve the quality of services it provides, so we embraced the opportunity to include them in this recent neighbourhood inspection.

We believe that these types of co-operative reviews will foster improvement in the relationship PCHA has with its residents and develop stronger communities.

The results of such inspections will also ensure we deliver a better service to our customers and subsequently improve the quality of life for residents, guaranteeing they receive value for money."

PCHA, formerly Paddington Churches Housing Association, was founded in 1965 in response to the Milner Holland Report that established beyond doubt the desperate situation of housing in London. Today, PCHA owns and/or manages more than 10,000 homes in and around London.

Genesis Housing Group provides homes and services to tens of thousands of people across London and the south east. The Group consists of PCHA, Pathmeads and Springboard housing associations. We also have in our group a charitable foundation, Genesis Community. We are one of the largest and most successful housing groups in the UK, owning and/or managing more than 40,000 homes.
