About 80% of householders in England now own their own homes.
Traditionally, they have been regarded as a self-reliant group who
can meet their own needs. However, if their personal circumstances
change through ill health or loss of employment, the support
available to them is limited. Additionally, the availability of
mortgage finance to help people move to a more suitable home is
restricted to those who have an adequate income.
Springboard has considerable experience of working with homeowners,
either helping them to repair or adapt their homes, or moving them
to more suitable accommodation.
Springboard have historically offered a service to assist
homeowners who have run into difficulties, often assisting in
refinancing or relocating.
Unfortunately the service is currently on hold. If you would like
to be considered for the scheme if or when it is relaunched, please
contact us via the details given below.
Low cost home ownership options
Part buy/Part rent (formerly shared ownership) is a more
affordable alternative to buying a property outright. It is
designed to assist first time buyers who are unable to afford a
mortgage or a property on the open market. The buyer purchases a
share in the ownership usually using a mortgage and pays rent to
the housing association for the share in the property which they
have not purchased. Housing provided includes newly built and
refurbished homes as well as homes being re-sold by existing shared
owners.
Genesis Homes are another part of the Genesis Housing Group who
specialise in this type of housing. You can get more information by
